Exploring Unchartered Planets

This term the learners at PNS School are learning about exploration. We have thinking about what kind of planets may exist outside of our own solar system. We watched this video by Andy Martin about 12 planets he created and then we had a go at creating and describing our own planets.

The Native Garden

There is a beautiful native garden at Papatoetoe North School. It is full of plants, insects and birds. We went exploring one rainy day to see what we could observe and notice. We then used these observations to write poems. Here are poems by Linda and Vaughan.

The Comment Queen

Meet Papatoetoe North School's comment queen! This is Alysah and even though she does not come to PNS Writing Club, she takes the time to  leave comments on almost every single post we make. She thinks really carefully about the feedback she provides and we REALLY appreciate it. Thank you Alysah!

The Looker-on

We have been studying a poem by Frank Kendon called The Looker-on.

Using the same structure, we decided to have a go at writing about our environment. Each group chose a place around the school. They sat down and took observational notes. They used their senses to describe what was around them. Here are some of the results. Can you guess what part of the school they are writing about?

These I Hate
